SORRY TO MISPELL RADVONOVSKY'S NAME. HERS IS THE BEST LIRICO SPINTO AROUND TODAY. SHE HAS A LARGE VOICE AND POWERFUL.
-
@kasha1932 I WOULD DESCRIBE A LIRICO SPINTO AS A LYRIC SOPRANO WHO LITERALLY PUSHES HER VOICE INTO THE HEAVIER DRAMATIC SOPRANO REPERTOIRE, A SOPRANO WHO BEGAN AS MIMI WHO LATER DOES TOSCA OR WHO SINGS LIU THEN SWITCHES OVER TO TURANDOT.ANGELA GHEORGIOU IS AN EXAMPLE OF A SPINTO SHE BEGAN WITH LIGHT ROLES LIKE JULIET AND NOW DOES TOSCA AND CARMEN. SONDRA RADONOVSKY IS TO ME MORE LIRICO SPINTO THAN A TRUE DRAMATIC SOPRANO.

@intelegentable Intelegentable...would you please give me a definition of LIRICO SPINTO? And is there anyone today who would labeled as one?
-
What a truly GREAT ,GREAT Soprano!!!! I love listening to her! Thank YOU! And Thank You, Onegin65 for this marvelous sharing ! What a shame we can't hear it without the outside noise...but I don't care...I just block it out!!! Thanks so much!

Milanov was an authentic Dramatic Soprano, not a lirico spinto. She sounded different than Price who was a lirico spinto. Milanov had a rich, powerful, soaring, beautiful instrument and her mastery of the Verdi parts can be heard in the remarkable music she made in her prime. The older voice has a harsh, metallic sound that can be unpleasant but her early work is phenomenal. Her acting was all done with the voice. She was a great singer.

She has a trained voice but not a beautiful one.

I saw her many times at the Met. Fabulous! Brava Zinka!!
-
at 2:57 she really sings whatever comes to her mind ahahahhaha and too fast - it is obvious she couldnt handle the top notes
-
Incredible. Verdi requires power in the high notes, super long legato phrases, lightening of the voice for quick coloratura, extreme range, youthful sound for the soprano roles and coloroing of the words. You are lucky to find a singer who can do two or three of these things. Milanov can do it all!

Absolutely brilliant; never done better!
Perfect Verdian line.
'Who cares if you can act if you can't sing?'
Milanov's dictum should haunt us all.
