Clyde and Mikhail

Clyde Jones is a folk or "outsider" artist living in Bynum, NC. In 2004, as a student filmmaker, Linda Booker was entertained by the different versions she heard about ballet dancer and actor Mikhail Baryshnikov's visit to Bynum and his attempt to buy a "Clyde Critter." She filmed locals telling the story at ClydeFEST, an annual festival in Chatham County organized by ChathamArts, and edited their versions together. Nobody knows what really happened except Clyde, but she purposely didn't include his version to illustrate how other people tell stories as local folklore and add their own embellishments.
