  • Fair play to the people of Montserat, it must be the fighting Irish spirit mixed with the resileince of its African descendents that make them so Unique. My regards from ireland, im telling ya, u guys should start getting connected with us back here in ireland, we'r all emigrating again this time by our own will, let us know if ya need any workers.. Lol, we could set up a serious turistic industry, build hotels and prosper... the Irish and the people of Montserat once again! LOL Tiocaidh ar lá!!

  • Re: the Irish name Sweeney It should be noted that the Scottish Gaels were actually descendants of Gaelic emigrants to Scotland. The word 'Scotus' is Latin for 'Irishman'. Scottish settlers who moved to Ireland (and especially Ulster) may already have been of Gaelic Irish descent. ;-)

  • I have finally found My Land. Black Irish Island

  • O i am an Mcsweeney aswell.lol

  • @rhombocephalos yes but the Mc or O'Sweeney name isnt originally Irish they were scottish Gallowglass warriors brought to ireland as fighting men sometime after the 14th century. I get this information from a Mcsweeney man himself who is proud of the roots of his clan while still thinking of himself as irish. Like many people in both nations they are mixed descent and proud of the fact that being Irish they have scottish roots.

  • @seonidh There are McSweeneys and O'Sweeneys and as you say there are Scottish Sweeneys there are also Irish Sweeneys

  • Sweeney acctually originated in Scotland and the Irish people in Donegal who are Sweeny say they were scottish and their name was originally MacSween

  • I want to live a Montserrat close community
