my 18 month daughter has had a trach since she was 6 months old she wears a size 4 bivona flex tend which is cuffed the cuff deflates to streamline for tube changes she is 24/7 dependant on her vent but lives at home with me her vent doesn't stop her doing anything she is just the same as any other kid her age ... anyway thanks for sharing your story it upsets me a little that a trach change is painful i hate to think I'm hurting my daughter but i guess its a small price to pay

Thanks for sharing, this helps a lot to have an idea of what my patients go through. You my friend are a blessing to many people whether you know it or not! Thank you for sharing your story. I grew up with a friend in school how also had a trach..his was there due to lumps growing in his throat that would block his airway. We were all used to it and never questioned him about it. I think we were scared to ask him because well to us thats just the way it was. He passed away our freshmen year of high school. I ,iss him to this day. Thanks again for sharing. i now have a little better idea of what he went through.
