@amysita77 Hello, I hope you are joking. Im not such a shallow person as your message might imply. But perhaps Im being paranoid. Or perhaps that is your own opinion. Things don't need to be American to merit my displeasure. Pick a country and I will tell you something I don't like about it. Im nothing if not fair, nor am I a bigot, or xenophobe.

@TheKevin1950 It's only 'American' if you hate it, right?

You're not saying that you are the owner of the absolute truth, but you say you are right and it's "obvious" I am wrong... (!!!)
It's an ironic song about the "chichés" about love shared by women AND men, about an impossible love between two persons with different representations and expectations about love and relationships in the couple... so, we are together right.

@jsebsteelguitar i'm not saying that i am the owner of the absolute truth, but what i can say is that this song has nothing to do with impossible love and it's as obvious to see as an elephant in the savana. dylan's so called love songs have oftenly some ironic, sarcastic and mockering ideas in them and that's why i love BD, cause he didn't let himself caught into the usual clichee way of writing love songs since he knew that "love is just a four letter word", as he puts it in another great song

Your (not false) interpretation is not exclusive from mine...
There are so many interpretations about the songs of Bob Dylan...
An other interpretation say it's about the rejection by Dylan about the demands coming from his fans or from his audience...
Only you have the truth??? Hum...
En même temps, des paroles franches et tellement brutes de vérité qu'elle en sont presque violentes par moments..;
amour impossible...
