My father is a cardiologist surgeon and he makes 545k every year.

The interventional cardiologist make the most money

After medical school, there is ALWAYS a residency no matter what specialty you choose. For general practitioner, there is a 3-4 year residency and then you are eligible to become certified and hired.

Justgetout and StyleMusic1 are both correct. Cardiologists usually make about 350K up to 800K+ depending on the specialty within Cardiology and the location. 250K is probably for the academic cardiologists.
-
That is not true I have to disagree with this doctor Cardiologists make
$500-850K a year like Justgetout said.
-
250K for a cardiologist? Really?
They should be making $400-600K.
Cardiothoracic surgeons should be making $500-850K, on par with neurosurgeons.

Soooo... basically, after medical school, you have to do more school? Or can you stop school after medical school and become a general physician? Haha I'm really trying to figure out the medical process...
-
@LAO90 you mean like a cardiovascular surgeon?
I'm becoming a surgeon but not for the money but to help people that are in-need of a surgery.

Dr. Cathcart's should be clarified. Cardiologists attend/finish a 3 year residency in internal medicine pus an additional 3-4 year process to become board certified in cardiology. Cardiothoracic surgery is a different track; that's a 5 year general surgery residency and another 2 years of CT surgery. General misconception here: you do not become a cardiologist before becoming a CT surgeon!
