Hi, I am an Amateur Radio operator, also know as ham radio. Many of the older ships are now museums with amateur radio stations. These stations become radio active during holidays and for special events. I have work stations on all of these ships. After the contact we exchange post cards, called QSL cards, to confirm the contact, post on our walls, and are used for awards.

Of all the ham radio videos that I have posted on YouTube, this is the most popular video. Popular with Navy, military, and ham radio guys.

Enjoy the video, the music is great. I even watch this a couple times each month with the volume turned up. Gets you in a great mood!

I need to get back to the radio, and work some more ships.

Thanks to all of our service men that have served and died to protect us.

Thanks for all comments on this video, they are great.

Randy

  • This is not only the best arrangement of Anchors Aweigh, but also one of the best performances of it I have ever heard. Thank you for sharing this. Is this the Navy Band? I am an ex-radioman.

  • @sailorette1 Hi, not a Navy band. I'm afraid to tell, as I may have to pull the video off.

  • Thanks Randy! I served with pride during Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada) as an active duty Navy Medical Officer at Roosevelt Roads Naval Hospital Puerto Rico 1983-1987, then with the Naval Reserve until 1991.

  • Hi! This is from Japan.

I believe this is one of the best and the most standard performance that I have ever heard and played by muself! I love this merody that I practiced playing when I was a member of the brasband clib of my junior high school.

  • Go Navy. Beat Army!

  • As a band director, this is the original version - not played too much today by any bands - sorry to say. Thanks for posting - great job.
