Jose Gonzalez recently took time out of his busy summer tour schedule to swing by the Rockstar offices in New York and perform this intimate, acoustic rendition of "Far Away", his contribution to the Red Dead Redemption Soundtrack. Most of you will remember this song from when John Marston first reaches Mexico, riding horseback along a dusty trail between cascading red cliffs and the San Luis River; definitely one of Red Dead's most visually and sonically memorable moments.

  • As this song started I rode my horse to the top of the bluff above the river into a huge red sunset.

Had to rein him in and just sit and listen as I took in the scenery. Felt like a real magic moment in real life... So good!

  • cool moment in the game!!!!!! good song inspiration...

  • 2 guys were too Far Away to hear this

  • The most perfectly placed piece of original music in a game I've ever come across. This song adds such emotional depth to a truly incredible gaming experience.

  • best song entry for mexico!

  • At parts, his voice sounds exactly like the CD version at moments.

  • good thing theres no wind :P

  • Wow this is such an emotional song. I don't think any other song fit that particular moment in the game as that. One did. I mean that song basically is what the game is about. Excellent song, excellent game. Good pick Rockstar....

  • Oh boy di I remember that part of the game, a harsh but beautiful plain, a looming cliff-top with a golden sunset over a serene river, taking in everything I could as the song played...it was truly beautiful.

  • i shed a tear when this came on for the first time in the game..soooooo good

  • @JohnnyVictorGomes Same! Sitting there think WTF? Then to vocals started.. Aaaah, epic!

  • @kona6495 I guess you could take that view, but there's the whole 'Suspension of disbelief' factor involved. I know it's a game and not real, but if you let yourself get into it, it can still affect you in almost the same was as a real life experience. Almost. And only if you let it :)
