  • Awesome pictures. We left from Mass also at the same time. Amazing what a small world it is.

  • I just came back from 2 months at Asmara. It still looks the same, for the most part, though there are some new housing areas on the road to Tract B, which the bldg is still there, but I have no idea what it's being used for. Sad to say Asmara is no longer such a nice place to live under mostly due to the current administration. Asmara is looking very old and tired now, but the people are still good. I was last in Asmara in 1974, so it was very different then.

  • @kbiastre These are fantastic historical pictures. I would love to send those pictures in digital for to the Eritrean Research and Documentation Center. I know people who will take care and categorize them. probably include them in history books. Thanks for the post. i have never seen pictures in color from those times.

  • I lived there from '58-'61, Dad was with ASA. These are great pictures and bring back memories. hanks

  • Allen, my family lived on Kagnew Station from 1960-1963 and I was born there in 1961. Thank you very much for taking the time to compile and post all your pictures as this is the most comprehensive collection that I have seen from Kagnew Station. Both of my parents have passed away, so I'm trying to collect and digitize all of our family photos and hope to post them, as you did. Thanks again! LTC (RET) John Motley

  • Allen, my best friend Max Duckett was there at Kagnew Station from 1960 to '62.

He ws in a motorcycle accident in 1998 and is now in a assisted care home and is very bad shape. I would love very much for him to be able to see these videos as he does have a DVD player but no phone so I very rarely get to talk to him or see him as he is 350 away. I can't find out how to put this on DVD. Is there any way I could order these from you and send to him. My e-mail is bojab@yahoo.com. thanks Keith
