a bit disappointed:(
very control and perfect playing, but where's the fire?
I always feel when I listen to this passage, I want to feel anxiety, like I keep running away from something but it's always behind me, chasing me.....

Thank you...maybe a bit of an excessive reaction, but the piece is so close to my heart I can't help myself... Have you heard the recording I wrote about?

...the other part was Florestan HOWEVER the piece is about ONE of Kreislers diverse emotions! So this interlude, however sweet and babbling like a brook, should convey that same feel of anxiety and tormented frustration. Basically a different viewpoint on the same subject. It should have a feeling a bit like somebody who, his eyes closed, hums a sweet soft melody in major to himself, slowly rocking himself while holding his hand down between his legs after just having hit...

...dichotomy which he identified himself with. Take the first piece: The Hunger to get to, or obtain, the object of desire should border on a raging panic, relentlessly driven by the chordal continuo of the left hand, and the anguish and urgency and the 'frantic searching to and fro' expressed by the right hand, up to the point of the interlude (in B-flat Major if I'm not mistaken) which is a complete change in character, BUT NOT TOTALLY, this is Schumann's Eusebius speaking whereas the...

the piece. Not just Technically perfect, like Kissin's, but also from the heart, expressing AND conveying the true different emotions of each of the 8 parts and the whole piece as a whole (which it is as well!). ONLY in THIS and Horrowitz's recording can you hear both the sensitive Johannes Kreisler,(the T. Hoffmann character on which wildly fluctuating moods each of the 8 pieces is based, as Schumann identified himself with this character) as Schumann intended, AND the Florestan/Eusebius...

By far a better rendition than as was referred to earlier as some of the other ''old plonckers'' like Neuhaus. But to refer to the pollini, volodos, ashkenazy, argerich or 'the Machine' Kissin for better ones is a mistake in my opinion. The Only (!)recording that surpasses the tone and interpretational originality of Horrowitz's recording is that of a Maestro which tragically died far too young: Youri Egorov. It is an old 70's/80's EMI recording and his performance is ABSOLUTE perfection of...

Among the old clunker generation, this is a lot better than Kempf's rendition.

Who say "garbage"?
My god, this is one of the most exciting, emotional and viruoso track from Schumann's Kreisleriana.
I agree that Rubinstein interpretation is far from what the piece demands.
I recommend Pollini or Ashkenazy. Kissin also is wonderful!
...his finger full on with a hammer. There should be a sense of unsettledness over it, before returning to the Florestan Theme... my 2-cents worth... :-)
