Twin NO3
Horiba
Organic farming is attracting more and more attention since this method of farming uses natural fertilizers to improve the flavor and freshness of vegetables and avoids the use of pesticides. HORIBA has released a compact meter called the Twin NO3 that helps farmers determine the ideal amount of fertilizer to use for growing their vegetables. This new meter measures the amount of nitric acid ions in vegetables. Nitric acid ions are necessary for the growth and development of vegetables. However, an excessive amount of nitric acid ions makes the vegetables taste bitter and sour. This meter is simple to use. Just squeeze some juice from the vegetable, and then use the Twin NO3 to test the liquid to see the concentration of the nitric acid ions. In order to reach the most appropriate nitric acid ion value, growers use less fertilizer. This offers the advantages of making the vegetables more resistant to pests, and at the same time reducing the volume of fertilizer used while growing the vegetables. HORIBA is offering two models of the Twin NO3 from which to select including a version for testing vegetables that retails for 39,800 yen. and soil measurement version for the farm priced at 45,000 yen.
