short version...my wife and I were at Catalina's, LA, right next to the piano. George Duke comes in, I tell her, he's my hero and one reason why I play piano. Minutes later, I have to go to the head. I come back shortly, there is G.D. in my seat talking with my wife, laughing. Hahaha! Good guy, great musician. His sis was there too, also very cool.

Having said that, I don't dig Bromberg's tone at all. Too much clunky crispy crunchy treble. And I've never been a huge fan of Marienthal. He's a great player, but so anonymous. Could be anybody. And the drummer...nice groove, but um...well. I'm not gonna hate on him. I'd rather have a great groove than insane chops any day. George Duke made all these cats sound good! He is so great!!!

I didn't like the sax, it was good, but nothing outstanding, but quite the opposite, i can't feel out the real passion and groove, what definitely comes from Duke... it was a bit greasy. No offense, the sax player was perfect technically, but i just didn't get it....
Who's on sax?
