Anna Netrebko sings the final cabaletta "Coppia iniqua" from Anna Bolena by Donizetti on her role debut (April 2, 2011). My recording has a little glitch at the chorus section near the end. Sorry.

"I was at the met and i wanted my money back!"

    Clown!

I seen/heard Anna twice so far and if I'm lucky, I'll go again in February. I've seen hundreds of performances in the house since I started back in 1972.

I think this was the single greatest performance I have ever seen.

  • By the way... Callas is dead in case you didn't know. Get over it! Give way to others that are as good or even better than the majority of singers.

  • Ask a nowadays soprano to perform better than Anna. I bet it's hard to find one. I don't think she performed well enough, especially compared to her before having her son; but she's still a great contemporary opera singer. Suntherland, Callas or any other great sopranos have been the past - you have to look at the present and trust the current generations.

And she gained weight because she had an angelic son. She sacrificed her vocal career to the motherhood. And why does that matter?

  • non si può ascoltare!!!! è orribile

  • @markspc1 Go and listen to Kirsten Flagstad, Victoria De Los Angeles, Leontyne Price, Montserrat Caballe, and so many more to hear unforced singing. There are many fine examples on YouTube is you care to be schooled in the art of great singing.

  • @markspc1 No. I am quite nice looking.

  • @Smile6784 Eliane, are you a dog (i.e. an ugly woman)?

  • @elainebmack I don’t understand your comments. Anyway what do you mean by her voice is forced, can you give me an example of a soprano with an unforced voice?

  • I am told that Anna Netrebko has gotten fat, or to put it more politely, has gained forty pounds. I will go to the Met this Saturday to hear her in Anna Bolena. I hope her weight does not deter her performance. The last time I saw her at the Met she looked great.

  • @elainebmack I agree about the voice and the 'hype'.

Sometimes the beauty of the soprano clouds judgement.

  • Oh..please....what's this??????????? No no!
