Gummo is the name of the "forgotten" Marx brother; thus these people. I always looked at the beginning (the rabbit kid), as a sort of symbol of being forgotten. How he is watching the cars, LIFE, go by as he is in a cage, right in their in their sight if they looked for him. He goes through almost every emotion in that cage; anger, sadness, disgust, loneliness, boredom, ect. He knows life is moving on without him and he's stuck, with no escape. Very well-done movie.

these people were mostly real...they just plucked people off the street of this shitty little town in Teenessee and made them actors lol. Afterwards they should have fed them all cyanide and put em' out of their misery

Also in reference to 120 days of Sodom, the book is worse than the film. A woman has a mouse sewn in her vagina and it eats it's way out, people are skinned, forced to eat their own shit, pregnant women have rocks crushed on their stomachs, they're raped, mutilated, and sodomized all for fun, anyone else would think that was fkn insane.

@Thehatedtruth i did think chatham was the worst place coz there was a paedophile ring and two women tried to steal a child guess you've opened my eyes in a way. I was raised in a decent and sane place for the most part of my life, but I left home when i was younger to live in a one bedroom flat in Chatham. If you think this film has beauty, then fair enough each to their own if it weren't for the animal cruelty, i'd prob love this film i like the weird and abnormal. But i'm an animal lover.

Hahaa 120 days in sodom is childs play. And if you lived in the ghetto of chatham (Lol you should try moving up north, the eldington torture kids were in my school) Then maybe you shouldnt post comments about how you have been raised in decent and sane place and how we should all have our heads examined for thinking this film has some worth.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm not saying I'm right. It's all about our views Gummo is nothing compared to what I've see. I've met a girl who is sexually attracted to her father who abused her at the age of 8, a woman who's ex poured a kettle over her vagina, and when I was 3 years old I met a drug dealer with three fingers cut off IDC about that, what I cannot stand however is people who are cruel to animals yes this is a film and it's not real but I knew ppl who killed and hurt animals
this movie is like a train wreck, you just cant look away until its over.

It's a piece of art. This is actually reality for alot of people. People who don't like it should keep in mind, while watching it, that this film depicts what life is actually like for alot of less fortunate people. To enjoy this film doen't make anyone disturbed. It simply shows us a less flattering side of life and we can all learn from watching it and perhaps realising how lucky we actually are.
