    Complexity is not a vice.

It's a brilliant line and a message for all of us, not just the people who make the big decisions. It's a reminder that if we want better leaders we need to be better citizens.

Yes but the way you assume America should be leaps and bounds above the rest , why does it have to be above the rest ?

It's just the assumption that Americans have that their country should be seen as the best country on the planet.

I think everyone wants to see things around the world get better .. even China.

The current state of things is precisely why I don't think American is the best country or anywhere near the stars. But because I'm an American and an optimist, I want to see things get better.

Every video I see regarding America is full of these comments about America being the best country with ability beyond the stars. Your patriotism I applaud but it always gets under my skin.

I don't see why they have the thinking that we must show our strength so people remember us , why does it matter that a country is outshining other countries, perhaps Americans should just try and improve their country without comparing it with others.

The UK have tried to adopt American style election techniques, such as public, on air debating. Putting it in a short, less than 10 word answer, 'we suck at it'. I used to enjoy politics and the notion of educated people arguing about what is right for us. Now they are simply rented, empty shells that are programmed to just say the opposite thing the guy on other side of the bench just said, and that is sad.

Holy fuck! Somebody give this guy a gold star!

America and Americans have the potential to outshine every other nation in the world combined but they don't because they've been tricked into thinking that it's okay to be LAZY! They think it is their God-given right to sit on the couch, gain weight, and play Call of Duty. As long as their wage checks clear and their broadband stays connected and there's something good on Netflix who cares what goes on outside their house.

Actually, that was probably intentional .... Governor Richie wouldn't have been smart enough to count to 15 !!!

See some of his answers in a different part of the debate, and it will become clear to you... Before this leads to an anti-Democratic rant from some of you guys, remember what President Bartlett said about a minute later..... He didn't hate Republicans, even Conservative ones... He just had no time for idiots...

Americans have always been, to some degree, anti-intellectual. That's never changed. What changed is that politicians have fanned that element of American nature into a contempt and hatred for civic institutions.
