Elian Gonzales - Walter's view on Cuban Society, Tourism, & prostitution

Barbara Walters interviews Fidel Castro from Havana, Cuba -- 25 years after her first interview with the Cuban leader. Her original interview made a little history because people got their first real look at the man. Although Castro is known for very long speeches, he rarely does interviews.

Fidel Castro, 76 at the time of this interview, has outlasted nine US presidents. He's on his tenth. His rule continues to inspire both fear and devotion. He tells Barbara Walters that Soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev lied to both President John F. Kennedy and Cuba, heightening the Cuban Missile Crisis.

  • Fidel still lives in his mansion while the common citizen cannot visit the nice beaches where only white capitalists tourists are allowed to enjoy. Fidel is still looking fat while the Cuban people dig through trashcans. There is no freedom of religion, no unions, no freedom to leave the hell Castron has created and God forbid you speak truth to power. Castron will put you against the wall and execute you.

  • Thats how great communism is that mother rather die in the middle of the ocean in hope of living a American dream. Its so sad, so many people die in search for freedom.

  • @RalphdaCuban The CIA doesn't fear Castro, they fear those that support his cause. After screwing up the Bay of Pigs they had to corner Che in Bolivia like the spineless cowards they are, they know they are nothing next to the determination of the revolutionaries. His trade relationships haven't given him or Cuba prosperity as lifting the embargo would, though he's proven the futility of the Americans.

You read that in Time, I presume? There's no reliable source to back his personal worth.

  • @TheHunter14792>> POWERLESS??? FIDEL IS A SNAKE IN THE TALL GRASS friend, this man has been for decades one of the most feared man by the CIA! He is probably one of the most influencial leaders to have ever lived, he has kept the russians in his pocket for years not to mention the strong quiet relationship he has with the chinese! Now hes buddy with Hugo Chavez a man who controls 25% of the worlds fuel supply.

Oh and lets not forget his networth of over 1 billion euros!

  • @RalphdaCuban Oh, maybe that's because the US has a useless trade embargo with Cuba.

  • GOD CANT YOU PPL REALIZE THAT NOTHING MATTERS! were just humans nothing more.. do you see dolphins having a war right now with lions? ugh no

  • Around 4 min into the video, when she speaks about how many families in Cuba have a hard time, she mentions the old cars, the trade embargo, the fall of the Sovjet Union. All of these are effects you can´t blame the system itself on. It would be interesting to see somekind of a comparison between the poor in Cuba and the poor in the US. Cuba definetely has its issues, regarding freedom of speech and so on. But still, without the embargos and it´s involentary isolation things would be different.

  • @RalphdaCuban There is no American Dream, and it is certainly not in America. The ones most responsible for the lack of freedom in Cuba are Americans, and yet some still wish to join their oppressors. The embargo is one of many ways the Americans ensure Cuba is not free. Castro does what he does to protect his people from what plagues all other countries in Latin America, and the true nightmare that existed under Batista before him. He fights with all he has despite being next to powerless.

  • I think Fidel politcal wise is a bad man

Image wise I think he is epic

  • @espressotub where is his mansion? why are you talking shit?

  • Washing machines! So Silly.... American media is prejudiced against cuba!

  • @espressotub I would be able to talk you seriously if you actually knew how to spell Castro.
