A Mike Middleton Film
The Odyssey Continues..........
Ok "Our Mary", Our beautiful Mary River, Breathtakingly Magnificent, in fact you can now see it like never before....
So it's coming, the book "Our Mary" is well underway, but the Movie is OUT ! Just Being Released this week on DVD.
After the Successfull "Sunshine Odyssey and the "Fraser Coast Odyssey", and his Book "Our Maroochy" just released last month.......
Mike Middleton and his team have made the film "Hinterland Odyssey" and it's entirely filmed from a helicopter !
a truly unique way to see the region, set to great music this journey is not of distance alone but an Odyssey of low level aerial camera work
filmed from numerous expeditions in and around the hinterland over some many years, there's even a shot flying up the Mary River flat out at tree top level that makes you push back in your chair...
Having been a cinematographer all his life Mike has worked around the world and filmed many international documentaries and wildlife films you well may have seen, 29 international TV Documentaries in 5 years was the record held by Mike, he has filmed all over and around Africa, Europe, lived in Paris, London, New York, Rome, Hong Kong, Japan, Asia and even made a TV series on the South Pacific based in Tahiti for the 9 Network Australia which he created, he has even climbed Mt Blanc in France and jumped off it with a parachute, with camera in hand to film the experience for a TV program, it was the quick way down !, he also flew his hang glider over 100 kilometers cross country from a mountain to get some shots for another film, unassisted. Yes there was a camera mounted on the Hang glider with a remote control !
Mike has survived a plane crash into the ocean, a helicopter engine failure in the Simpson Desert, a hang glider crash in the mountains, due to an extreme weather change, and got lost underwater in a cave in Samoa, finding his way out just when his scuba tank ran out of air, and, yes the camera was rolling all the time, everytime, what a life. There are numerous awards in his collection, and one in particular for his Aerial Cinematography work, they are all kept in a cupboard gathering dust but show just what has been achieved in this career and is being continued in his life's Odyssey.
He began as a News Cameraman in Sydney at the ABC and was there for over 11 years then moved on overseas to work as a News and Current Affairs international Correspondent, he has worked with Princess Diana, has traveled with Rock Stars on tour like Paul Simon and Elton John, filmed major World events like the end of Aparthied in South Africa, and tracked leopard and wild dogs in Africa for documentaries, his experience and knowledge is beyond belief.
But the incredible thing is.... it's all true, and he has the photo album and films to show for it all.
Mike's skill levels for getting images that are stunning is unique, and well known in the Australian Film industry, where he now works on TV commercials and corporate presentations and yes ! tourism promotion. If you need help in promoting your tourism product just ask Mike ! after all he's seen it all, probably filmed it ?
His love of this region is testimony to his local efforts, all made by him, at his own expense, to record the way the Sunshine Coast and Mary Valley and surrounding regions are today and has done all this whilst living here over the past 20 years or more in and around his Busy career and international committments.
Mike lives on the Maroochy River but is currently working in and around the Mary River region for his next project another awesome Book all about Our Mary.... So you may see him with camera gear paddling his Kayak along the Mary or Hovering over your house in a helicopter or Balloon, it's all about you and us and the way we look at it all from different perspectives.
Hinterland Odyssey is available now on DVD, and, Mike is looking for outlets, shops, and people to help him share this DVD with eveyone that is in love with the hinterland as much as he is.......This DVD is a must see......come on take the Odyssey as it continues....
The Blackall Range Business and Tourism Association and Montville Getaways, along with the Festival of the Walks are utilising this DVD as an official souvenier of your visit to the area. It will be available at many shops and accomodation locations in the Hinterland. What a great
way to take home your experience and show your family and friends where you live and have visited.
