  • Good video. The biggest problem I have when getting to higher speeds is the stick sliding out of my hands. Mechanically, the reason is clear, the center of gravity is not in the fulcrum point but more to the top. So the quicker I "crank" the stick the more centrifugal force is building up trying to whip the stick away. As a result I need to grip tighter, in turn dampening the bounce. I'm caught :-/

  • @KackeEgal I don't think it's a matter of more pressure, it's a matter of consistent pressure. Check out the JoJo Mayer DVD. It's more about the ebb, and folw of pressure that allows the stick to move. When you allow your grip to loosen the stick begins to slide. You don't have to hold it tighter just more constant. At least that's what worked for me. Even with minimal pressure I've been able to keep the stick in place.

    Thanks.

  • Pillows is worthless to me I like playing everything on my floor Tom that is tuned very low and only offers one bounce. Bounce is your friend learn to use it after all we are not playing pillow kits.

  • @ediot6969 Excellent point. Wrist, fingers, bounce, use everthing at your disposal.

  • The best double stroke lesson yet!

    Thanks! Keep this coming!

  • OMG FINALLY! I've been searching for a good double-stroke video for a long time and nobody explains it like you do (nobody explains it at all). Every other video is "and just let the stick bounce, HAVE FUN :DDD" but yours actually helps and explains proper technique! Thank you sooo much for this video!
