Never forget the first time I heard the Ventures and realized who they were. It was a fall Saturday morning in about 1980, was a sixteen year old working in an electronics store at the repair bench. Had to get an 8-track player fixed, so I needed a tape to test it, 8-track inventory was limited, but found a faded cartridge, "The Best of the Ventures". Listened to it all day, making sure the unit was thouroughly "tested" before calling the customer. Been hooked on the Ventures ever since.

THIS MAN IS A GENIUS ON LEAD GUITAR NOKIE EDWARDS

I know during a long stretch they were playing Mosrites. Great quitar for lead. Easy fretting. Nokia could play a Wal-Mart and make it sound good.

ボブの死はショックでした。私の青春でしたから。

It's Nokie Edward's own signature guitar called the "Hitchhiker". You can get one at his website.

hence my comment.
and just to clarify ,I got my first ventures album in 1969 ...only 40 years & 122 albums in my collection.

They bjust have different styles. McGee is a better blus player, Edwards is a better country style player.
In my opinion, Nokie sound better with the Ventures than Gerry does. I have Gerry's second (I think) solo album "Born in Louisiana", and it's awsome and bluesy. I think he performs a lot better on that CD than he does with the Ventures. Well, that's my opinion anyway.
Nokie Edwards. The greatest finger picker that has ever been. The Ventures are also the greatest instrumental Rock 'n Roll Band that's ever been. They've sold over 110 million albums world wide and were inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. Thanks for all the years of good music!
