LANGUAGE. A speech language pathologist (SLP) asks two three-year-olds, one hearing and one deaf, to follow directions from the same English language assessment instrument. Differences in receptive understanding are apparent even at this young age. For more information about assessing and facilitating language when students are deaf or hard of hearing see Language Issues in Deaf Education. Hillsboro, OR: Butte. You are welcome to email Barbara at bluetke@twu.edu. 3 minutes (signed) hearing & deaf 3 yr olds 3 min
