the worst thing coming out of a diesel is nox and the only reason its bad is cause it forms smog so all the tree huggers can rest easy ull be happy to know that as of next year at least as far as cummins is concerned even the heavy duty engines will be at zero emmisions

Yup Yup! Just because gasoline exhaust is mostly invisible, doesn't mean it isn't there. Diesel exhaust is more dense, therefore, falls back to the ground and gets reabsorbed.

Ignorance here, diesel exhaust (aka the black material you see) is known as carbon...which if you were to watch closely sometime, that black smoke comes back down...and carbon goes back into the soil.
Fact of the matter is, a diesel motor is not nearly as damaging as a little gas burning car.
