Fans of classic TV comedy have fond memories of The Dick Van Dyke Show's Rose Marie. As wisecracking comedy writer Sally Rogers, a talented woman struggling to succeed in a male-dominated profession in the early 1960s, she presaged Mad Men's Peggy Olson. By the time she landed that role, Rose Marie had already been in show business for more than 30 years. The New York native rose to fame as a child star, working alongside the likes of Al Jolson and Milton Berle, and receiving career assistance from such notorious figures as Al Capone and Bugsy Siegel. Her work on the The Dick Van Dyke Show brought Rose Marie three Emmy Award nominations, but this success was overshadowed by the 1964 death of her husband, trumpeter Bobby Guy. In this episode, she looks back on the highs and lows of a seven-decade career that has taken her all the way from vaudeville to Broadway.

  • Wow, this was so interesting. I would like to hear more of her stories. Thanks for the upload:)

  • @vistadelpasado its a question u idiot so stop talkin like that im not only not originally american but im not a movie/biography person

  • @MarioisawesomeXD You're not "originaly" american - you're also rude and uncouth. This lady is in her 80s and has been in show business since the age of 3. She probably did more by the time she was 15 than you'll do in your life.

  • was rose mary the girl at the titanic wtf idk who she no necks cuz im not originaly american

  • she was famous until Judy Garland and Deanna Durbin showed up.......lol

  • what she says at 4:37 cracks me up, amazing still

  • There has NEVER been another kid to this day that was as talented as baby Rose Marie. There are several videos out there with little girls singing and yes some of them are good (by todays standards) but there is NOTHING out there to come close to baby rose marie.
