The California Department of Justice defines missing child as one who has left home without the knowledge or permission of parents or guardian. In California, approximately 110,300 children a year were reported missing for 2006, 2007, and 2008. During the same three year period, an average of 1,100 youth was reported missing in Sonoma County.
SAYs Dr. James Coffee House is the only 24/7 emergency youth shelter in Sonoma County since 1991. The Coffee House fills a profound need in our community. Without the Coffee House, Sonoma County would have no safety net for young people who run away or who have been kicked out of their homes.
