This was a school project I had to do around June of 2006. It's my first attempt editing and filming a lightsaber battle. The problem with this is that we worked with only a 2 and a half week budget (not ideal if you're working on a project that involves a lot of rotoscoping). All choreography and filming took 4 days and there's a few continuity problems as you'll see. The choreography was all improvised on the spot and those fight scenes took anywhere from 15-30 minutes each of creating and practicing. It was pretty rushed, but I think it turned out better than I thought it would. The props used here for the lightsaber were actually the FX collectibles, which also had a great affect on the choreography being slow as most people say.

I used Adobe After Effects 7.0 for the visual effects and rotoscoping process, and Vegas 6.0 for the editing.

The first song was the Star Wars theme, the second is called "The Way of the Sword" composed by Hans Zimmer, and the battle song I used "Dies Irae" by Mozart.

  • Dude if you know how to edit lightsabers you should be able to understand you can speed video up and do things really slow but then make it look good

  • this shit is very false¡¡

  • das is öde

  • doesn't the one kid look like dorkman?

  • awesome ! Congratulations for this projets, very nice and clean effects, realy :)

  • Cause you know, you HAVE to learn sword fighting techniques before you have fun now a days. e_e;

  • Don't listen to the negative comments. It's better than I could do. When I tried it, the light moved around the the stick and didn't work right. This was fun to watch! Imagine if this were real - that would be freaky! In actual fear for your life!

  • Cool effects and good quality but the moves was way too slow...
