This song is dedicated to Maznah and Jayam and is for all parents. In its first incarnation, the song was about a new born baby. But this version has been changed to become applicable for those of us with grown up adults who have left the nest. Jayam plays the guitar and speaks the middle verse which makes reference to Adil and Rosa.
The Miracle Of Life
The song of life lingers in the breeze
Filling our hearts with immeasurable peace.
When a child arrives happiness will reign
We give our thanks for the miracle of life.
The family grows in wondrous ways,
The baby brings sparkle to our days.
The warming sun, the cooling rain
The sustenance of the miracle of life.
What children need parents will provide.
Nurturing love feels so good inside.
When children laugh language seems so plain.
Such is the joy of the miracle of life.
(Spoken) The cycle of birth and life never ceases to amaze.
One day, they are babies. And without warning,
they are all grown up, shuffling off their childish pranks
for the confident airs of adulthood.
Who could imagine a little boy suffering from frightening attacks
of asthma would become a jazz saxophonist?
Or a girl with cockroach-phobia would make the leap to be a doctor?
The greatest challenge for any parent is to let go
Then proudly watch the fledglings take flight
And soar into the heavens!
The empty nest suddenly looms large.
Where once was noise, silence now takes charge.
With grandkids one day, we will regain
Our fruitful dreams of the miracle of life.
Yes. My mother must have told me this!
