Kenyan legislators are attempting to push a controversial new law through parliament, which would allow Kenya's information minister to raid and close broadcasters.

Al Jazeera's Yvonne Ndege reports from Nairobi, where dozens of journalists have already been detained by the police for protesting against the proposed law.

  • when there is a 'misister of information' then you gotta worry.

  • Censorship- That is what is happening in Kenya. When the people/media are censored, democracy fails.

Too, on the other hand, government contolled media also causes democratic shortcomings. And let's not forget media owned by private interests.
