1948 Motorola VT71 tv set. This set was found NOS in USA, the tv was shipped in Italy and then carefully restored to "as-new" condition. The tv works with a PAL 625 video signal from a DVD recorder/player and thru a RF modulator (channel 4).

  • Great post.

Was this particular Motorola model designed to handle 625 pictures or was it modified.

What system would it originally have been handling do you think ?

I'm not sure whether 625 had been perfected in 1948 ??

  • the TV was made for 525 lines but it can handle 625 as almost all B/W american 525lines TV sets, a RF modulator must be used in order to input a European signal. This set is using a RF modulator (Ch 4) and the input is from a DVD recorder/player (RCA connection cable)

  • Thanks for getting back to me.

525.. so while it is in Italy now it would have been manufactured in the USA for American Broadcasts.

You've done a great job on the restoration and enabling it to playback today's signal.

    Well Done !!

  • This is so cool!!! It's awesome to see people demonstrate their ancient TV sets in working order and to have rock legends playing on the set!!!

  • ci voleva una canzone dei primi anni 50! complimenti!
