5/17/1983: Islanders win Stanley Cup

On May 17, 1983, the word "Dynasty" was engraved in the minds of those who knew anything about NHL hockey. And it was the New York Islanders' dynasty that had won its' fourth straight Stanley Cup on that day. The men from Long Island defeated the Edmonton Oilers in four games. Of course, Edmonton got the last laugh the following year when they defeated the Islanders in the Finals. Bob Cole on play by play here for Hockey Night In Canada on CBC.

Telling an Isles fan "you will never win a cup again," when the rangers hold the league record for most years between winning the cup is throwing stones in glass houses.
