  • When my 19 year old cockatiel passed his dear budgie buddie was grieving (me too, of course)... I printed out a big photo of Moon and hung it next to his cage... we kept it there for a year... it's different of course, but it comforted both of us.... I do believe Nur the budgie knew the difference... but he could see his friend and it was a comfort..... the first few nights he would only sleep if he could see the pic...

bird's intelligence and emotions are far beyond our understanding....

  • @kj3dots

Bless Nur's little heart...you hit the nail on the head when you said bird's intelligence and emotions are far beyond our understanding"...so very true.

  • i dont find this creepy but it just seems sad to me i mean im glad his happy at the moment but birds are smart how long do u think he will go on being fooled?=( i mean i would cry if i saw my budgies like that id rather bury them with the earth and let them be with nature once again this is my opinion i think ur toto needs closure not a model to keep him happy for an unknown amount of time and when he know that that is cleos body he will become more depressed plz dont be offended

  • @pencilluna10

No offense taken. This was a decision that was right for us. We have no regrets. Toto is failing in health now & he will also be preserved. They are beautiful, smart creatures , have big personalities and why not keep them close to us always? Cleo will be buried with me when my time comes, and Toto with my husband. They were our first "children". (And lived over 25 years). My "human" son is 20, so you see our birds have been with us a lifetime.

  • Tks for your info...I think I am just gonna do a cremation with Spencer. Staying in a new cute little home i think would make him feel more secured and comfortable. it can feel somewhat ? watching your booboo's lover/friend being non-responsive. IMHO, if there are resources...it would be so much more wonderful if you can play footage of Cleo playing next to Toto and/or play Cleo sounds and maybe have a little play gym around him,

  • @botsea

I had a play gym for Toto, but now, at 27 years old, he is blind and can't find his way around any longer. He's still comforted with his buddy Cleo near him. I do not regret my decision for preserving Cleo. It worked for us all.

will you be getting more birds? well when my birds pass away i am going to bury them in the earth too be with nature :) i hope toto lives just a bit longer! D=

  • that is so sad and awful! the poor thing thinks it's still alive!!

  • i can see your opinion,

buut, "I" ( also a bird lover) find this saad and disturbing!

  • @botsea

I do have a gym for him... He's so old now and recently we've noticed he's blind in both eyes. So he is just comforted being next to his best friend during his twilight time on earth with us.

  • cute :)
