i think the g forces might have been reduced due to the elasticity of the harness/hammock thing . without that the g's would probably have knocked the crazy bastard out .

I saw this on TV once, the very same video.
The name of the guys that is going the jump is Zelix or something, and he made a race against a plane. He was in a plane shaped suite that hade a parachute in it. He won vs the plaine!!! He was crazy.

I've seen a German version which uses compressed air to launch people into a lake or pool. I think they named it the "AirKick"
