Do you know if there's any validity to the story about Roald Dahl and Christopher Lee doing their RAF training together? I have heard this more than once as a kid growing up in Canada. I know Dahl was on the African Continent with Shell Corp. when the war broke out and likely trained there before he was dispatched to Greece and Lee's Wiki says that he trained in South Africa until his poor eyesight caught up with him. Neat story is there's any truth to it.

haha, it looks like Gandalf's having a bit of a chuckle over Saruman getting stabbed at the end xD

@bobblesworth Pretty sure I JUST posted a comment a month ago explaining exactly what Lee did during the War. He served in the RAF and the SOE.
The guy you're correcting was just one of the producers being interviewed casually and didn't have the facts of Lee's service on him.

There are two possible scenarios: Chrisopher Lee actually stabbed a Nazi in the back, or he was close enough to hear what it sounds like. Either way, that's badass.

@squamish4244 He was in the RAF's "Long Range Desert Group", a ground reconnaissance/raiding unit that Rommel later admitted "caused us more damage than any other British unit of equal strength". Later he was part of the SOE, commonly referred to as "The Ministry Of Ungentlemanly Warfare" and tasked by Churchill to "set Europe ablaze" through secret raids...most of which are still classified.
He's speaking from his own experiences, of which there were many I'm sure.
