Just a quick demonstration of about 65% of what Compiz can do for you, this is the better 65% of what it can do the other stuff is like wobbly windows and sticky window frames and motion blur etc.

GET LINUX!!! UBUNTU HARDY 8.04.1!

You wont regret it!!!

  • Awesome!!!! Ubuntu is a very good operating system, but lacks the usability of Windows. The best bet is to dual boot. I hear there is even a hacked OSX for x86 PCs.

    Somethings Ubuntu Lacks:

    -Compatibility

    -Hardware Support (WLAN)

    -consumer/easy interface

-Shiny Visual Style (Can be fixed with theme downloads)

    -Simplicity

    -Games

    -Media Players (iTunes)

  • True but a lot of those things can be picked up for free, the consumer interface is only difficult because everyone is introduced into windows, or generally anyway, and find it harder to get the hang of a whole new system to work with, after about a week of tweaking with it your good to go!

As for media players, the list is endless,

Hardware support is slowly being adapted more and more around Linux

    just my opinion

  • @DarkShadesOfGrey yes big deal. what does windows have? slowness and over 60 000 viruses?

  • @Agnizium 1. ubuntu compatibility us awesome

    2. hardware support. yh they could do some work with that

    3. the interface is veeeeery easy ._.

    4. yeah. ambiance sucks

    5. its very simp v.v

    6. I NEED GAAMES!! I NEED THEM!!! WHY ARENT PEOPLE MAKING GAMES FOR LINUX?!!

    7. banshee and rythmebox is waay better than itunes >.>

  • KDE is the only decent desktop environment for open-source operating systems. Unfortunately, it's very resource-heavy and my old PC cannot handle it. Rhythmbox sucks BTW, use Amarok, that's a real revolution in MPs.

WINE sucks. I have installed Arch in the past among a multitude of distributions but I always went back to XP. I have yet to find a distro that a) doesn't completely fuck up with burning discs and b) runs faster than my heavily optimised XP installation without looking like ass.

  • @HiroYatamoto your moms moouth is not practical. IF you are a friggin idiot then it may lack the coolness you look for but other than that it looks btter it feels better it performs bttr and is more secure, this is like me upgrading from your mom to a supermodel...

    Stupid japanese two-faced people...

  • @reblogo well cause having the windows as different work spaces rather than having one with a bar at the bottom its the clutter problem there going after and to be honest if you have alot open on the bar it slows down windows drastically unlike having multiple windows in linux.....linux is designed for multiple users in evey way possible

  • @Agnizium

No it can run .exe all you have to do is install wine then just right click on the file then just hit propertys then click allow to run

btw ubuntu is not for newbie's it is not a point and click os

  • @Agnizium

    -What's wrong with the compatibility?

-Hardware support could use some work I agree

-easy interface is realtive so that really can't be argued (i for one think ubuntu's interface is much simpler and easier than windows)

    -Simplicity? What's no simple?

-Games, yes but not Linux's fault.

-Media Players? It has plenty of media players?

  • @Agnizium Let's see if it's lacking it.

    Compatibility... WINE

    Hardware support... Uhm, no.

Consumer interface? Ever heard of GNOME? Easy, not Compiz.

    Shiny? Gnome, again, with transparency.

    Simplicity, Gnome.

    Games, WINE

Media players? No shit itunes isn't for it. Use Rythmbox, just as good, if not better.

  • Why do you need 11 different screens up when you could just hav windows and hav a whole taskbar free to keep things on!

  • @InjecteDVenoM Thanks man. I will contact you via pm.
