Union Pacific's Santa Cruz Local rolls over a fill above Davenport Beach in Davenport, CA. It is on the final approach to the Cemex cement plant at the end of the line. A wooden trestle originally spanned the gap, before being filled in 1906. Ocean Shore Ry crews received a little help in compacting the material from the 1906 earthquake, which occurred as the project neared completion.
