@earthygreen *yawn* And yet again with the "WOW!" bit. Don't you get bored writing the same snarky yet pointless drivel? As I said, I don't care what your opinion of my intellect is - one of us must, by nature, be more intelligent, and I think it's clearly me. Yes, you are a hypocrite, no, you don't believe in Zeus, or Quetzalcoatl, and no, it's not because they fail to make testable claims. You're just another bigot who thinks his own religion is "best". You're wrong. There is god.
@Kirkaiya Wow -- that is one of the most arrogant and judgemental pact of sentences I've seen in a while. I guess someone questioning your self-proclaimed intelligence is a knife in the gut, eh?
You call me a hypocrite yet display yourself as one for all to see.
I think I shall demonstrate superior wisdom and shake this dust from my shoes. When a person becomes malignant -- I know they've lost all perspective of the discussion. Yours is long gone. Farewell, Kirk.
@earthygreen *yawn* Your own insinuations (now you insinuate that I'm "not educated", lol) are getting boring. And of course, you lie again - I didn't claim there were zero testable claims, I said "There are no fundamental claims" that are testable, and this is obviously true - if not, the claims would have been tested long ago, and all people would be of one religion. As for your opinion of my intellect, or your "suspicions", I just don't care. Your mediocrity is beyond banal.
@Kirkaiya As a matter of fact, yes, there are claims that are testable in all religions. Many claims. I find it odd that you keep insinuating that you're educated, yet you don't give any credence to facts of reality. You make me suspicious of just who you really are behind the statements that you're making. What you're scoffing at doesn't match up with your high-regard for your own intellect. You're inconsistent, friend.
@earthygreen You've spent 10 years "exploring the claims of religions and measuring them"?? LOL, that is total b.s. There are no fundamental claims of any religion that are TESTABLE or MEASURABLE, so you have wasted 10 years. Claims of an afterlife, or non-disprovable entity cannot be tested (unless you kill yourself, testing the afterlife claim). I have traveled thru India, my wife is Buddhist. None of the major claims can be tested. Talk about "boasting" about complete nonsense.
@earthygreen "cleaned animal cages" - in the particle physics lab in which I worked as a staff engineer, we had no animals. Nice try (yet again) to insult me. I am only insisting that you do not understand why many atheists are atheist, because you insist on repeating false reasons. You didn't give the scientific method "in a nutshell", I did. You gave only one small piece of it - evidence. I also insist you lied by saying I called all Christians stupid, when I didn't.
@Kirkaiya As a matter of fact, that's exactly what I've been doing the last 10 years or more. Exploring the claims of religions and measuring them for their veracity.
@Kirkaiya Believe as you wish -- You keep insisting you are correct when you are not. You are insistent that you know what I understand or don't understand.
Also -- "in a nut shell" is pretty explanatory. I know the steps of the scientific method. If there isn't any evidence and it cannot be tested, it cannot be proven.
I was quite familiar with a man who boasted he worked in a science laboratory at a large university. Turned out he cleaned animal cages. :-)
@earthygreen (continued) As to your question of why most atheists are atheist, its because atheism is the null hypothesis. Why do you not believe in Zeus, Hera and Poseidon? Why don't you believe in the Roman gods? The god Thor and his hammer? Why not the myriad gods of Hinduism? Is it the scientific method that makes you doubt 999 of 1,000 different gods? I doubt it. My disbelief merely extends to 1 more god - yours.
@earthygreen You keep repeating, "believe as you wish" as if that meant anything more than an acknowledgement on your part that you have no point to make, and can list no reasons for what you believe. Your definition of the scientific method is wrong - the method is Observation, Hypothesis, Testing/Experimentation, and Conclusion. I worked in a physics laboratory, I have zero doubt I'm more familiar with it than you. Again, the word atheist is not capitalized.
