@daridp true i see you point on the purpose of the shoes in a street and for the military uses. I know this is kinda of outta left field but sanada aka san shou is a military style but they do not use shoes then again krava magra uses shoes. but yeah i think we both agree that in any other grappling tourny shoes equal heel hooks and ankle locks. prime example at naga in the no gi grappling portion of the tourny.

@akariauma Yeh I asked since then, my Judo teacher used to coach a 2x Sambo World Champion. Apparently they do wear shoes in Sambo, since its a military(ish) martial art, and people on the street do wear shoes it makes sense to me at least. Although in a grappling competition(not a Sambo one) I would ditch the shoes.

@akariauma Yeh I have seen it myself in NAGA, but I always wonder why, even if I can't pull off a heel hook I have like all the timer in the world and everything I could ever want. That meaning you can't escape me, I have time to dominate my position by figure fouring my legs. Lastly its basically a GI I can hold on too. Its almost like Yoshida vs Royce 2 where Yoshida wore his fucking GI. Yeh he didn't submit him but why add a handle?

Why on gods green earth would you wear wrestling shoes in a submission match? It basically gives you the leg lock, as in there is no escape.
