A forum on Northern Uganda held in Chicago this past September became quite heated, as Ugandan government ministers denied the existence of genocide and other serious human rights abuses in Uganda.
In this clip Milton Allimadi discusses his views about the Lords Resistance Army Disarmament and Northern Uganda Recovery Act introduced to the U.S. Senate by Senators Russ Feingold, Sam Brownback and others. In particular, Allimadi and others have questioned increasing U.S. support for Uganda's military.
"if it was just a matter of military solution, it would've happened a long time ago, it wouldn't have taken 23 years, unless you're telling me that the LRA is far more superior than the Ugandan military" then he goes on about how we need to read the bill before we understand WHY the LRA has been doing what they've been doing for 23+ years. Ok, so if the LRA is not superior to the military, why are they still there doing what they're doing? Uganda can't take them out. They haven't been able to!
