Youtube is rife with videos of cops tasing people merely to punish them.

• Smart-mouth a cop? Get tased!

• Don't show sufficient respect? Get tased!

• Drunk and can't stand up? Get tased!

• Refuse to sign a speeding ticket? Get tased!

• Diabetic stupor and non-responsive? Get tased!

It is quite likely that these cops tased this kid because they were pissed and wanted to punish him. With no video of the incident the cops are free to make up any story they want. And so it goes...

i'm a 45 year old former marine powerlifter and my first urge is to run from these control freaks. yes yes i understand that not all cops do this but enough of them do it that the entire populace is morbidly afraid of them. perhaps thats the gig.

I'm glad, our police in Germany doesn't use tasers. I think a police officer is more likely to use his taser than his gun. In Germany, the use of force by the police is highly regulated, an officer has to justify everything, what he does.

Obviously, in the US, this regulation is not viable, as things are much different from most parts of Europe. Nevertheless I think tasers make things even worse. Guns are more threatening than tasers and therefore don't have to be used that often, I think.

Taser's are not non-lethal instruments. They are responsible for many deaths and are used to torture suspects.

The problem is Gangs, although Police are supposed to be authorised, I see gang related persona within the Police, NOT all, IF I shoot a police officer, then my body is brown bread, Police shoot a civilian no big deal, now turn the tables, if Police shoot a suspect and their whole county beats that police officer to death, and any suspect because of that shooting, would Police be so quick to use any deadly force.?

The problem is that the taser is advertised as effective but non-lethal. Because of that, the likelihood of abusive use of this weapon is high.

The taser was meant as a substitute for using lethal force in self-defense.

But, the taser is being used to force compliance by what amounts to torture, which is WRONG.

Tasing cops to allow them to feel what it's like as part of their training is insufficient; they also must be disciplined to know when NOT to tase, just like knowing when NOT to shoot.

@COM0fAek - Yes, and now they are working with CPS aka Child "Protective" Services to steal children from their parents - in Vancouver, BC (and elsewhere) they have tasered the parent WHILE they are holding the baby/child. 50,000 volts of electricity - as TASER put it on their website "more stopping power than a .357 Magnum." Right through flesh.

Where did this sensible cop come from?! This type surely don't work the streets, he must be behind the desk. They put the ego driven maniacs on the streets to deal with the people. You very rarely run across this type of cop. Are they hiring just to get numbers up? I'd rather have a smaller force of intelligent law abiding cops than a huge force of assholes that destroy peoples quality of life. I can defend myself against criminals and win in court, with cops you have to take it or die
