My First (Kind Of) Official Friday Show! 11/5/10

I take some time to answer a question that has been asked more than a few times... usually with a sense of condescension, presumptuousness, and hate. And, that is okay :)

  • 10 years as a server? Whoa. Crazy.

It's been 18 years since I wore a server apron. I did it for 2 years, and the experience scarred me for a decade afterwards--

  • Ok so I just found your vlog today...KUDOS on the "wine is not to see if you like it or not"---*THANK YOU*!!! you don't even need to taste the wine, you can tell if it has gone bad or not simply by smelling it....I do have to say though, being that you have been at 30 restaurants in 10 years (I am an actor, in NYC, and that is a LOT, but I digress), I am surprised to hear you make fun of someone describing a wine that tastes leathery, as this is a total legitimate description of certain wines.

  • Oh man. I work at a winery and I hate the slurpers/spitters. Also, someone told me once that one of our wines tasted like weed. Mmkay.

  • i wish u were my waiter your awesome as hell man cant wait for your show

  • >< wish i could see some of the comments where people fought the 20% tipping

  • I think I love you. People in my town, don't know how to tip. They expect fast service at a sit-down restaurant. Not to mention, they leave their germs and I am happily hacking out my lungs in gratitude. They were kind enough to give me their germs, they should have left me a huge freakin' tip.

  • @ArchieAA hurrrr.............. have you ever worked in a restaurant? If so, you wouldn't say that.

  • I fucking LOVE you!!! I think about you at every shift I work at the "crapple"! In fact, I ask all my server friends if they have ever seen your vlogs, if they haven't, I direct them to you! I would love to share stories with you, I have been in the "business" for 28 years, I started as a salad bar "girl" at Bonanza Steakhouse when I was 15 years old. Since then I have worked in every capacity in every type of restaurant along with my day, office job, we must share notes!

  • Ha! I went to a friend's restaurant that was having a wine tasting dinner. Hey it was a free meal! Anyways the wine expert who was talking about the wine would ask the customers, what you do smell, after everyone sniffed the wine. People were saying gooseberry, strawberry etc. Strange stuff. I took a sniff and said "All I smell is wine." Everyone at my table (strangers) broke out laughing.

People can be so pretentious about wine.

And yes I tipped 20% of the total bill, for free meal
