At first I thought GERTY was going to be a HAL rip-off (from 2001: A Space Odyssey). But 'Moon' is too clever for that.

I think it would've been interesting to see what would have happened if GERTY had been voiced by an actual computer voice, namely Microsoft Sam. (Which is funny, because not only is Sam the name of the main character, but he's played by a guy with that name as well.)
