Too many golfers are working on clearing their hips and rotating their lower body to attempt to get more distance. They should be thinking on the sequence of events that need to happen during the golf swing. In order to give the club face more time to get back to a square position your right hip should not invade the hitting area before the club starts down. The feeling of this movement might be that your right hip will begin to rotate the opposite direction initially. This gives time for you to put pressure on your lead foot and gives the arms just enough time to get the club face back to square. The hips then make the rotary motion as you end up facing the target.
A good practice drill is to slide a plow stake through your belt loops and make slow motion swings allowing your arms to fall in ahead of the stake as you swing though. If done incorrectly you would hit the stake with your arms before reaching the golf ball.
I do this drill with an old golf shaft and my iron shots improve instantly.

BEST basic tip i have heard yet! all this time i've been doing everything to get some distance with the hips but a lot of people, including me, get some misconceptions and you definitely cleared that up.. i slice and block shots out like there is no tomorrow, naturally, too, and it kills distance, things like this are a good lesson to learn for people not knowing how to shift weight during the whole swing, great video

R. McIlroy uses a dramatic example of this "sitting down" motion as he starts to drive forward. This is a great move or just swing thought to start with. Also (for me) if I'm blocking I think 3 thoughts:
1) FINISH your shoulder turn back.
2) Accelerate SMOOTHLY
3) Keep your right heel down a little longer during release.
Number 3 sounds like it might actually make blocking worse - but it seems to help me release.

I am going to the range tomorrow and I am going to try this. If it works, I owe you BIG time. I don't think I even need to worry about putting the stick in my belt buckle because the visual your video provides gives me a clear instruction as to what needs to be done - let my arms release before my hip. Thanks.

Talk about your campy golf instructors. What was the camera guy doing during this video!?! Low budget at its best.
