Robert Shaw is the man! And don't forget it was remade badly as a 1998 t.v. movie, and I have no hope for the Tony Scott version. Why remake it? Repeat a winning formula when you have no ideas of your own. They'll stop only when these remakes stop making money. Don't hold your breath. Great clip, thanks for posting.

So right on the money, this was a great movie, largely ignored during its day but one of the best of the 70's. The movie is a great blend of action, suspense and humor. The score only adds to a great film. These actors were all at the top of their game and the screenplay adaption of the Godey novel is excellent. If there is one positive to the Scott remake, it is that it will point out how poor the two attempts are compared to the original and it will get people to watch this fine classic.

How can you run a rail-road without swearin'!!

I love Shaw's reaction. He looks like he's thinking "Yeah, I dare you to get in the front car motherfucker. You'll never see a sunset again, bitch.

Well Robert Shaw was armed to the teeth in that situation so I think his ass was covered!

That's the same shit they told me in Viet Nam and I still got my ass shot full of lead.

I think it was just another way of saying "Haven't you ever seen a black man before". In reality as I remember NY in the 70's, Robert Shaw could have put himself in a precarious situation.

The sunsets should eat up the lousy remake.....
The remake of 'The Taking Of Pelham One Two Three' starring Denzel Washington in the Walter Matthau role, and John Travolta in the Robert Shaw role, has been scheduled to be released on Friday, July 31, 2009.
