  • 70% of New Zealand's electricity is now produced by renewable energy.

Hydro, wind, geothermal and we are about to start a pilot undersea turbine programme.

We're down to 1 coal fueled powerstation and a few gas fueled ones.

It is possible to go renewable.

Here's the rub. The govt has just approved Petrobras to survey offshore with a view to start some deep-sea wells that will be 3x deeper than Gulf of Mexico.

    The protests have begun...

  • EVERYONE CALL BS on ANY claimed "Fossil free electric cars."

    Tires are made from??? Petroleum.

Plastic in the interior is made form??? Petroleum.

The energy used to refine the steel, lead, copper, aluminum, lithium, etc. they are made of??? Mostly coal.

The oil in the gear boxes??? Petroleum.

The diesel fuel used to transport them all over the country??? Petroleum.

  • Fossil free electric cars? Yes, if the electricity is produced in a nuclear reactor. Otherwise, it is most likely produced by burning coal.

  • I say if the world moved towards using all clean energy, and cities having more mass transport systems, we wouldent need too drill off shore. Then disasters like oil spills wouldent happen.

  • why can't anyone just give us the facts.... the bias run to the left is sickening.

  • @Chevyguy2003

they can be fossil free if they recharge on clean electricity.

  • electic cars are not fossil free since a majority of our power comes from coal fire plants

  • @PESNetwork The government doesnt give a shit about what we think anymore. but i agree with you really need to find clean sources.

  • @Schyntful well said!

  • @hitheresunshine And like most addicts, our addiction is what will cause our destruction. D=
