In this video, Jared talks with Cobus about his unique way of applying the "Herta" drum rudiment. Put simply, the herta is two fast single strokes followed by two slower single strokes. For example, you could play two eighth notes followed by two quarter notes; or, you can play it similar to Cobus and use two 32nd notes followed by two 16th notes. Any combination will work.

  • thats the first time ive seen that broken down. and they are easy, i found myself doing them randomly but through a R.L.R..R.. sticking, its easy as the right hand just sticks at one constant tempo.  never knew it had a name and never thought of switching it up and using it more in fills but its gold!!!!
