  • Steve I was finding how to get reduction in this kiln. I later turned down the gas and saw the temperature rise after that.. I know I got reduction by the way the glaze turned out, by how much copper showed, now need to do it with less flame. I will do a run with the same glaze and no baffle plate on top at all and see how it does with that

  • Raku firing is a lot of fun. Plus there is always the possibility of death looming around that makes it even more fun.

  • Hi Mark you should try backing off on the gas so that the flame stays in the kiln .I did this and trapped carbon in my glazes which made them go grey, also if the gas burns out side the kiln it wastes gas plus the temperature takes longer to rise as the unburned gas passing through the kiln doesn't add to the heat. I sounds a little obverse but in my experience in these situations less is definitely more ... just a thought
