The composition 'Transform your Hertz' is specially written by Zeno van Den Broek for the Schouwburgplein and Motel Mozaïque 2011. The composition comprises a combination of two main ingredients. First, abstract tones that are related to the materiality of the square; the textures, lines and grid patterns that Adriaan Geuze has shaped in a variety of materials are reflected in resonant and pulsating tones. Second, field recordings are used to make connections between the Schouwburgplein and other locations in the city. The composition takes this spaces auditory to the Schouwburgplein. As a 'city stage'; the sounds of the city in the middle of the city; the work provides a platform for the city; that same city 'acts' in the play. Include are field recordings from the Kralingse Forest and the city centre, but also recordings from the harbor, an area which is also a great inspiration for the original design of the square. These elements come together in a composition that offers the visitors of the Schouwburgplein a constantly transforming spatial experience. A seemingly 'empty' square becomes a place where the whole city auditory coincides.
