Is the Arduino fast enough to cope with conversion and transmission of data to host when using normal writing speed? (This requires a minimal of 200 points/sec).

Your best bet is ebay for the lcd module and use a 15-19" touch panel to usb kit from DealExtreme. What I did in the video is just demonstrate how to use a 4-wire resistive touch panel and output the values to a processing app.

This is really cool! Do you know where I could purchase touchscreen LCD for cheap? I've been looking everywhere for a project, and these vendors are giving me ridiculous quotes!

Yeah that's right... Any 4 wire resistive screen will work.

So the touch panel you used in the video is just a normal touch screen from a navigation system, not a touch panel you bought only for this project. Is that correct?

I got mine off an old Navigation product I had lying around. You can pick up 4-wire resistive screens pretty much anywhere pretty cheap. Try dealextreme and search for "touch screen" They have some there for Nintendo DS units for US$2.95
