The American Love Affair / by Lee Rhoads
Division of Cinema, University of Southern California, 1976.
A film by Lee Rhoads using unique archival photographs and footage. After offering in the opening scene a classic glimpse of Los Angeles and its car owners circa 1970s, it deftly relates the transit history of the Los Angeles basin beginning in the late 1800s.
(Note, esp. film geeks: see at 0.16 Toho La Brea Theater.)
Made while Rhoads was a University of Southern California student, the film won a 1976 Special Jury (Documentary) award from the Student Film Awards sponsored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Music: "Lord, My Ford" by Jerry Reed, 1973.
