Editors tell writers: Write about what you know. Writers tell writers: Write what you know. And Penn Charter teachers tell their eighth grade students: Write about what you know. The eighth grade Memoir Project at William Penn Charter School engages students by inviting them to write about the most fascinating topic on the planet: themselves. Students are encouraged to dig deep into a decade of memories and flex their creative muscles to describe the best family vacation ever, life's most embarrassing moments, or the trials and tribulations of a big nose, bad hair, or a little brother.
