In Canada most cyclists just install studded tires.

@pseudotruth I was going to do a detailed response but all I can be bothered with is that I hope it really hurts the next time you fall off.

Not another 'cyclists should pay road tax'. NOBODY pays road tax, it doesn't exist! It was abolished in 1937.
Vehicle Excise Duty is a licence to pollute, that also checks you're insured and the vehicle is MoTd.
Roads are paid for out of general taxation, so pedestrians, horse-riders and cyclists pay for the roads too.
Motorists have to pay insurance,. because they're a menace to each other and all other road users. Likewise with vehicle testing. Argue with the statistics.
exuse me, i have 2 questions please reply :) My friend called florian was tlaking about you ( if your the right guy ) but 1. are you german?? and 2. do you do photography??

Motorists pay for it so do the same stick your hand in your pocket and pay, cyclists complain but you don't have to pay insurance, pass a costly test, pay vehicle excise duty, MOT your vehicle to ensure it is safe, pay vat and fuel duty, pay for parking and have to deal with all the plonkers on bikes who ride irresponsibly and at night without lights.

First: road clearing is payed from the council tax. Cyclists pay this!
Second: all my family have strong lights, regularily safety checked bikes and ride responsibly obeying the highway code. We wear bright reflective clothing because many car drivers just don't see cyclists and treat them as plonkers.
If you don't want to pay Vehicle excise duty, vat fuel duty... Have you tried cycling?

Yes it was fun to do it with time and for this video. It wasn't fun when I tried to get my daughter to school in time. Especially when I saw her falling.

The video response may seem a bit unrelated, but it's there to illustrate a difference in conditions. They salt and grit all the cycle paths here, even many miles out into the countryside. I ride on slick tyres and expect to get around corners without incidents.

Well, you are cycling in the Netherlands. The UK is comparatively a cycling developing country. Funds for cycling seem to come out of the pot for road repairs so you can imagine where the money goes...
