Her real name it seems is Lizzy Grant, a 24-year-old from New York state whose previous stab at fame in 2009 failed to come off. Now the sexy, breathy jazz singer is back with a new name and a new image. Del Rey describes herself as a "gangsta Nancy Sinatra" with a "Lolita in the hood" look and claims to have once lived in a trailer park.
The 21st century femme fatale seems destined for big things, and her shows have been selling out in seconds.
But some people are not convinced. Del Rey has admitted that her new incarnation was thought up by "a series of managers and lawyers", and the cynics are wondering why all references to Lizzy Grant appear to have vanished from the web
Many have accused her of being a "fake", and earlier this month Lucy Jones wrote in The Daily Telegraph: "We simply don't know how much of her is real or not and it would be difficult to put our trust in her if it's true she's a hologram concealing a load of greedy, soulless record executives in suits."

I really don't get how a failed music career followed by a label guided revamp makes her fake, I think that makes her smart. People change, there sound changes we are influenced by everything it doesn't make her less legitimate

@caireboo there's so much more emotion in this than Adele. It's just not massively over played. It's subtle. Which, for me, makes it so much more resonant. There's a fear in her voice which is really quite haunting.

Beautiful lower register and different jazzy voice but wheres the passion?? When Adele sings she has me in tears because she emotes so beautifully. Love this song, love her voice but watching her perform left me rather cold :(
